As me and my Dad wait to be met by one of Freightliners managers, a three tone grey, Mainline vinyled 37 pulls into platform three at Eastleigh, with a rake of "Seacow" YGB ballast wagons.

After a quick pick-up of load of containers, we head back through Southampton, heading for Eastleigh for a driver change, then onto to Crewe

Heading into Eastleigh platform 1, and the crew change were me and my Dad get off.

Taken from the multi-storey car-park opposite Eastleigh station, another Freightliner 47 rolls in light engine for the depot

A split headcode 37 in "Dutch" engineers colour scheme, slowly pulls out of the station, possibly bound for the depot.

The way passenger trains used to be! An Intercity liveried 47 with a rake of virgin MK2's, hammers through the fast lines at Eastleigh.

After being met, and a trip around the wagon works, we are taken up to our loco, 47345.

After drawing out of the sidings in Eastleigh MPD, we change ends, ready for departure to Southampton Maritime.

As we pull out of platform 2, we gaze upon the trackwork at the west end of Eastleigh station. The lines which curve right, immediatly single for several miles, return to double track for the line to Fareham, then onto Portsmouth/Brighton. The lines ahead lead straight to Southampton.

As we pass through Southampton Airport Parkway, a unidentified 442 in Network SouthEast/SWT branding, slows for the stop.

Entering the eastern portal of Southampton tunnel, an HST in Virgin trains colours accelerates out, long before the Voyagers were built to take over these trains.

Exiting the tunnel see's 159017 creep out of Southampton Central, probably bound for Portsmouth Harbour.

We get held at a red signal between Sothampton Central and Millbrook, and our driver telephones the signal box. After 5 minutes wait, we can proceed towrads Southampton Maritime.
